Hunting for Purpose in the Wilderness – Nick (US SOCOM)

There is no question that this was one of the most remarkable experiences of my life.
I actually found this hunt had nothing to do with hunting for the elusive and coveted bull elk. My experience in the camp and in the wild I discovered that I was hunting for a purpose. Somewhere deep within the mountains and the forest, I was able to peel back yet another layer and reveal truth and purpose deep within myself.
While the hunt was without question a team effort and team environment, I had moments of individual clarity unlike anything I have ever experienced. I was able to take a few steps closer to gratitude for being alive and capitalized on this amazing opportunity to find peace. The volume of my inner dialogue was nearly muted. I felt pain, suffering, then triumph and victory. In the end, for the first time in a long time, I was proud of myself.
However, that 6x7 bull elk I got was pretty rad.
